HOMEROOM:

Pledge, take lunch count, buy lunch tickets, announcements, organization for the day, newsletters handed out, hand in Box Tops for Education, TIP Kindness awards given, voting for various activities, studyhall, and Silent Sustained Reading.  Students sit with the homeroom at plays, assemblies, and lunch.

CLASS:

ATTENDANCE Please keep absences to a minimum as much as possible.

THE AGENDA is copied from the board on the first day of each week, for the whole week.

ALL ASSIGNMENTS ARE DUE the next day at the beginning of the class period, unless we’re doing a project, at which time the due dates will also be written on the agenda.

LATE WORK The grade on the assignment is recorded on the due date.  Each is worth 100 points, and is graded on a percentage scale. An assignment that needs to be redone (below 67%) or finished will be accepted at the beginning of the next class period, with the maximum grade being 77% (C).

WHEN ABSENT for more than one day, please phone the office to have make-up work ready for parent to pick up at 3:30 p.m. Otherwise, any make-up notes or assignments will be given to your student when he/she returns to class. Work that was assigned before the absence is due on the day he/she returns.

TESTS are given after each chapter. Prior notification is given a week to a week and a half on the agenda.  To study for tests, students need to:  1) study chapter vocabulary; 2) study any notes taken in class; 3) reread the chapter, and (4) review the study guides. Tests are worth two regular assignments (200 pts).

A STUDY GUIDE QUIZ may be given after each chapter.  The quiz is worth one regular assignment (100 pts).  Students are to use their study guides for the quiz. The quiz is an “open-book” test. Easy A+!

GRADING  SCALE: Percentage grades as adopted by the School Board in 2004 are followed.  Grade printouts will be given to students at midterm and at the end of each quarter.

99-100= A+     90-92 = B+         81-83= C+         71-73= D+          0-64= F
